MEADOW SPORTS BOYS 2 v PERRYWOOD TORNADOS 1 23 Jan 2011
The Tornados were unlucky to come away from this game without a share of the points.
With Perrywood finding clean sheets hard to come by, they found themselves two nil down.
With time running out Tester steered a cross shot over the line but it was too little for The Tornados to build on it and another three points went begging.
TORNADOS: Mitchell, Betchley, Bellars, Tester, Scarsbrook, Covey, Burberry, Delton-Wright, Suntoo, Boorman, Waddington, Pardoe, Smith
RIPLEY 3 V PERRYWOOD TORNADOS 1 6 Feb 2011
Perrywood travelled to Ripley on a very blustery Sunday morning the wind spoiling what would have been a good and well even contest.
Ripley took the lead after a break away from a Tornados attack contributed to by some poor defending by Perrywood.
Both Boorman and Waddington had chances but found both the Ripley goal keeper and defence equal to it.
The Tornados then found themselves two down following a long ball that flew over the defence, a Ripley forward was first on it and he took it round Will Smith and finished neatly.
Against the wind in the second half the Tornados played some decent football and were rewarded with a goal when Matt Covey smashed a left footed shot into the roof of the net.
Towards the end of the match another mistake by Perrywood gifted Ripley a third goal. A disappointing team display from the Tornados on this occasion.
TORNADOS: Smith, Betchley, Tester, Bellars, Scarsbrook, Covey, Burberry, Delton-Wright, Suntoo, Boorman, Waddington, Pardoe, Mitchell
PERRYWOOD TORNADOS 4 v OTTERSHAW BOYS 0 13 Feb 2011
Perrywood Tornados entertained Ottershaw Boys on a cold and wet Sunday morning in this Surrey Primary League under 16 division one clash.
The Tornados started brightly with a re-shaped side that saw Rob Tester move into midfield and Waddington slotting in at right back.
The break through came fifteen minutes into the match when the ball fell nicely to Jack Boorman on the edge of the six yard box and he knocked it into an empty net.
The second goal followed shortly, after a good build up and cross from the right found Jack Pardoe, he laid the ball off for Tester who side footed a controlled shot into the corner of the net.
Ottershaw came back into the game towards half time but the Perrywood defence with Betchley and Bellars in control stood firm.
The Tornados started the second half full of confidence and a corner from Scarsbrook was headed goalwards by Luke Bellars, the Ottershaw keeper unable to just stop the ball crossing the line.
Waddington was playing exceptionally well, defending immaculately but also linking up with Suntoo going forwards with Scarsbrook and Covey also causing problems down the right.
Tester scored the fourth and his second with a well placed shot pass the advancing keeper.
A very good team performance from the Perrywood Tornados and a first clean sheet of the season for James Mitchell.
Waddington was named man of the match.
TORNADOS: Mitchell, Waddington, Bellars, Betchley, Scarsbrook, Covey, Tester, Delton-Wright, Suntoo, Boorman, Pardoe, Smith.

Perrywood Tornados 2 v Bookham Colts A 1
A switched fixture meant Perrywood Tornados travelled to Bookham for this Surrey
Primary League Under 16 Senior Plate match and came back the victors.
In very windy conditions both team played their best football when kicking into
the wind. The Tornados were against the wind in the first half and created a
couple of half chances that fell to Richard Waddington and Jack Boorman and it
was these two who combined to open the scoring. A pin point cross from the left
by Waddington was headed in at the far post by Boorman giving Perrywood the lead
at half time.
Bookham started the better after half time and the equaliser was always coming.
A Perrywood corner was cleared by Bookham and Bookham broke quickly and
equalised with a shot that James Mitchell did well to get a hand to but could
not prevent it going in.
Shankar Suntoo was outstanding and caused the Bookham defenders problems with
his direct running and dribbling, he put in a couple of excellent crosses that
just evaded the Perrywood forwards.
With extra time looming Perrywood produced the best move of the match. Davy
Delton-Wright picked the ball up in midfield and set off on a mazy run, he
played a one to with Grant Burberry and this took him into the penalty area. A
cross come shot found Boorman lurking at the far post and he tapped home for his
second of the match and Perrywood’s winner.
TORNADOS: Mitchell, Betchley, Bellars, Tester, Scarsbrook, Suntoo,
Delton-Wright, Burberry, Covey, Boorman, Waddington, Pardoe, Smith, Reid
Perrywood Tornados 5 v Badshot Lea Blades 1
Perrywood Tornados entertained third in the league, Badshot Lea in this under 16
Surrey Primary League Division 1 fixture and put on by far their best
performance of the season.
The Tornados started brightly but still found themselves a goal down after about
fifteen minutes and to their credit they did not panic and continued to get the
ball wide and attack down the flanks as both Shankar Suntoo and Richard
Waddington had the measure of the full backs.
An in swinging corner from Reuben Scarsbrook was stabbed home by centre back Rob
Tester for the equaliser.
Shortly after, The Tornados were awarded a direct free kick after the Badshot
keeper handled outside his area; quick thinking from Jack Boorman saw him score
with a quick free kick.
Perrywood came out all guns blazing for the second half and Boorman added a
third from the spot after he was brought down in the box.
Two spectacular long range efforts, one from Waddington and one from Grant
Burberry sealed a fantastic win.
A real team performance from the Tornados with Suntoo the pick of the bunch!
TORNADOS: Mitchell, Betchley, Tester, Bellars, Scarsbrook, Covey, Delton-Wright,
Burberry, Suntoo, Boorman, Waddington, Pardoe, Smith
Ottershaw Boys 2 v Perrywood Tornados 1
Perrywood Tornados travelled to Ottershaw with a depleted squad of only eleven boys caused by illness, injury and commitments for this Under 16 SPL match.
In a re-shuffled defence, Will Smith played his first match in goal for over two years, James Mitchell filled in at right back, Shankar Suntoo at left back and Josh Betchley moved to centre half alongside Luke Bellars and also we borrowed Lewis Nicholls from The Jets.
The first half was not one to remember for The Tornados as they under performed right through the entire team and went in at the interval a goal down without creating a single chance themselves.
The Tornados conceded a second goal midway through the second half and only then did Perrywood look anything like the team they can be.
Jack Boorman had 2 one of ones and a header that went narrowly wide and Jack Pardoe was through and the chance was snuffed out by the Ottershaw keeper.
Boorman’s persistence was finally rewarded when he was brought down in the box and he picked himself up to fire the penalty to the keepers left.
All in all a performance The Tornados need to learn from and not dwell on as it is best forgotten!
TORNADOS: Smith, Mitchell, Betchley, Bellars, Suntoo, Covey, Burberry, Delton-Wright, Waddington, Boorman, Pardoe, Nicholls
Perrywood Tornados 1 v 3 Fleet Town Colts
Perrywood Tornados entertained Fleet Town Colts in this Surrey Primary League
Under 16 Division 1 match in what really was a game of two halves.
Fleet started the stronger and quickly went into a three goal lead as The
Tornados never really got out of the starting blocks.
Following half time a very different Perrywood team emerged and they started to
get a foothold on the game.
Jack Pardoe cut inside and his curling shot came back off the upright with the
keeper well beaten. Shortly after, Jack Boorman went on a powerful run down the
left wing leaving two defenders in his wake, cut inside and unleashed a powerful
shot that his the cross bar again with the keeper well beaten. Boorman also
latched onto a cross from Pardoe but was unable to direct his header goal wards
with any power.
Rob Tester and Luke Bellars were defending well at the back along with Betchley
and Suntoo.
Perrywood’s persistence eventually paid off and from Tester’s free kick the ball
slipped through the Fleet keepers hands and into the net.
A very good second half performance from The Tornados.
Tornados: Mitchell, Betchley, Tester, Bellars, Scarsbrook, Covey, Delton-Wright,
Burberry, Pardoe, Boorman, Waddington, Suntoo.
Perrywood Tornados 1 v 3 Meadow Sports Boys - 17th Oct 2010
Perrywood Tornados entertained Meadow Sports Boys in this Surrey Primary League
Under 16 clash sporting their new kit kindly sponsored by Towers Watson.
Perrywood started brightly but found the Meadow keeper in top form making saves
from Davy Delton-Wright, Richard Waddington and Rob Tester.
Slack defending from Perrywood allowed Meadow to take a two goal lead into half
time.
The second half saw Perrywood start brightly but again poor defending from a
corner saw Meadow go into a three nil lead.
To their credit, Perrywood didn’t give up and a long range shot from Jack
Boorman was pushed onto the bar by the excellent Meadow keeper.
With almost the last kick of the game Perrywood Sports were rewarded with a
consolation goal as a shot from outside the box from Grant Burberry flew into
the top corner.
TORNADOS: Mitchell, Betchley, Tester, Bellars, Scarsbrook, Covey, Delton-Wright,
Burberry, Suntoo, Boorman, Waddington, Pardoe, Smith.
Perrywood Tornados 0 v 2 Epsom & Ewell Colts - 10th Oct 2010
Perrywood Tornados entertained Epsom & Ewell Colts in an evenly contested under
16 Division One Surrey Primary League fixture and were unfortunate not to come
away with a share of the spoils.
On a glorious morning for football, both teams got the ball down, played a
passing game and in the first half both defences were on top and there were very
few chances. Rob Tester and Luke Bellars were both outstanding in the Tornados
defence.
The second half started the same way, although Boorman was unlucky not to score,
Waddington chased a lost cause, managed to deflect the ball off the keeper and
it fell to Boorman who side footed the ball goal wards only to see a defender
slide in and clear it off the line.
The deficit was finally broken midway through the half, a through ball saw the
Epsom forward nick the ball away from Mitchell who was unfortunate to bring him
down, the taker made no mistake from the spot kick.
A strong mazy run from Bellars saw the ball reach Burberry who shot was blocked
by the Epsom defender.
Scarsbrook and Delton-Wright went close with long range efforts and then a
mistake in the Perrywood defence saw Epsom double their lead.
Overall a good performance from Perrywood and an entertaining match played in
the right spirit by both teams.
TORNADOS: Mitchell, Bletchley, Bellars, Tester, Scarsbrook, Pardoe,
Delton-Wright, Burberry, Suntoo, Boorman, Waddington, Covey, Smith
Guildford City Pumas 2 v 4 Perrywood Tornados - 3 Oct 2010
The Tornados travelled to Guildford on a wet and blustery Sunday
morning for this Surrey Primary League Under 16 Division 1 clash.
With both teams struggling to come to terms with the conditions the first 15
minutes was very scrappy until a fine through ball from defence found Waddington
who coolly finished into the corner.
Following half time, Perrywood now found the wind in their favour and the speed
of Waddington upfront was causing the Guildford defence big problems.
Delton-Wright and Burberry were bossing the midfield and providing the through
balls for Waddington to gallop on to.
Waddington found himself through one on one with the keeper on two occasions but
the keeper made two good stops.
The conditions were not making defending easy for either side and a long range
shot skidded off the surface, was saved by Mitchell but fell to a Guildford
forward who made no mistake.
Shortly after, an inswinging free kick from Scarsbrook deflected off a defenders
knee and over the line to put Perrywood back in the lead.
Further through balls saw Waddington notch his second and he also provided the
opportunity for Will Smith to get on the score sheet.
Guildford pulled one back towards the end of the game but The Tornados stood
firm for a well deserved win.
Tornados: Mitchell, Betchley, Bellars, Tester, Scarsbrook, Covey, Delton-Wright,
Burberry, Suntoo, Pardoe, Waddington, Boorman, Smith.
Haslemere Town Youth 3 v 2 Perrywood Tornados – 26 Sept
2010
Perrywood Tornados travelled to Haslemere Town for this Surrey
Primary League Under 16 Division 1 clash and were unlucky not to at least come
back with a share of the points. The Tornados were picking from a full squad
although a couple of players were carrying slight injuries and goalkeeper James
Mitchell was stuck in traffic and arrived late.
Josh Betchley started off in goal and he could do nothing about Haslemere’s
opening goal after about 5 minutes. The Tornados started to get a foothold on the
game and Boorman equalised, rounding the keeper after a good through ball from
Rob Tester who was making his debut.
Shortly after, another new signing Luke Bellars scored from a well delivered
corner from Scarsbrook to put The Tornados ahead.
Chances fell at both ends and both Pardoe and Waddington were denied by good
defending and Covey brought out a good save with a left foot shot. Burberry also
went close with a long range effort that flew just wide and almost immediately a
lapse in concentration saw Haslemere equalise.
Haslemere were now on top and only two outstanding saves from Mitchell kept the
scores level.Shortly after, a Haslemere forward found himself in space and fired
home the winner.
A good performance from Perrywood deserved a least a point but something to
build on for the next match.
TORNADOS: Mitchell, Suntoo, Betchley, Tester, Bellars, Reid, Covey,
Delton-Wright, Scarsbrook, Burberry, Boorman, Waddington, Pardoe, Smith
PERRYWOOD TORNADOS 0 V 4 BOOKHAM COLTS A – 19 Sept 2010
The Tornados kicked off their season at home to a team they had
beaten away in a friendly the previous Sunday.
Pardoe and Bellars made their league debuts, however other new signing Tester
was missing with a knee injury picked up in the friendly.
It was felt a 4-0 score line did not really reflect the game as The Tornados
found the Bookham goalkeeper in good form as he made a double save from Boorman,
a tip over from a left foot volley from Pardoe and Burberry hit the bar with a
pile driver from the edge of the box.
Perrywood played some good football going forward but on occasions did not
defend as well as they might.
TORNADOS: Mitchell, Suntoo, Betchley, Bellars, Reid, Covey, Delton-Wright,
Burberry, Scarsbrook, Boorman, Pardoe, Waddington, Smith.
